In this informal video, Tom Weber, national director of ISO Community Hazard Mitigation, and Rick Stoll, director of product development for Verisk Insurance Solutions, discuss why a good ISO rating is important to a community’s economic health. The video is the first in ISO’s Fire and Data Conversations video series.
I’d like to use this edition of Community Fire Protection News to introduce myself. I started my career with the City of Sunrise, Florida, Fire Department in 1977.
In many communities across the country, the existence of a local fire station is a matter of significant pride and assurance that, if needed, emergency responders will arrive quickly to bring an incident to a safe and successful conclusion.
The ISO Community Hazard Mitigation staff visits a lot of fire departments in our quest to evaluate the quality of public fire protection for our Public Protection Classification (PPC) program.
Our Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS) is free to chiefs and other fire officials. It's a manual containing the criteria Verisk uses in reviewing the fire prevention and fire suppression capabilities of individual communities or fire protection areas. To recieve a copy of the FSRS, contact our National Processing Center at 1-800-444-4554 and select Option 2.
Water supply and distribution systems are important factors in determining a community’s ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC®). We provide complimentary educational training and seminars to water providers and associations throughout the country.
